This activity features six cases in which you will use whole slide images of surgical specimens to diagnose diseases. You will be presented with information on each case including clinical history, specimen source information, diagnostic findings and other ancillary testing data, as well as a corresponding whole slide image.
After you complete each case by selecting the correct diagnosis, you will be presented with a 30-question posttest. These questions relate to the correct diagnosis for each of the six cases.
After completing this SAM eligible activity and posttest, you should be able to:
- Examine dermatology biopsy slides and establish the diagnosis by integration of clinical information and morphologic findings.
- Explain the histologic features of dermatologic entities.
- Use ancillary studies and techniques, when needed, to distinguish entities in the differential diagnosis of skin lesions.
- Recognize cutaneous neoplasms and describe histologic and immunohistochemical criteria, if relevant, for their diagnosis.
- Describe the clinical course and pathogenesis of common cutaneous diseases.
