Description
This activity features six cases in which you will use whole slide images of surgical specimens to diagnose diseases. You will be presented with information on each case including clinical history, specimen source information, diagnostic findings and other ancillary testing data, and a corresponding whole slide image.

After you complete each case by selecting the correct diagnosis, you will be presented with a 30-question post-test. These questions relate to the correct diagnosis for each of the six cases.

Objectives
After completing this SAM eligible activity and post-test, you should be able to:

  1. Examine dermatology biopsy slides and establish the diagnosis by integration of clinical information and morphologic findings.
  2. Explain the histologic features of dermatologic entities.
  3. Use ancillary studies and techniques, when needed, to distinguish entities in the differential diagnosis of skin lesions.
  4. Recognize cutaneous neoplasms and describe histologic and immunohistochemical criteria, if relevant, for their diagnosis.
  5. Describe the clinical course and pathogenesis of common cutaneous diseases.

This activity meets the American Board of Pathology’s (ABP) Continuing Certification (CC) requirements for Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs).

Passing Requirements
You have a total of three opportunities to take and pass the post-test. If you correctly answer 70% or more of the post-test items, you may claim credit. CME/SAM credit can be applied to the American Board of Pathology (ABP) Self-Assessment Module (SAM) requirements. You must pass the post-test to claim credit; therefore, if you do not pass, you cannot claim any credit.
