This Forensic Pathology Program (FR) activity includes six cases. You will be presented with the case history and circumstances, scene investigation, images, test results, autopsy results, discussion, and key points, as applicable. Each case will be available as a downloadable PDF file, along with a zip file of the case images in png format for your continued use and reference.
After you have completed the cases, you will be presented with a six-question assessment.
As a result of participating in this assessment activity, you should be able to:
- Use gross and/or microscopic images to identify lesions from traumatic and nontraumatic entities.
- Recognize uncommon presentations of common diseases and injuries.
- Use appropriate technology and clinical data in the evaluation of forensic cases.
- Use information gathered from scene and death investigations to complement the postmortem examination.
Accreditation: The College of American Pathologists (CAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) accepts this activity to meet the continuing education requirements.
You have a total of three opportunities to take and pass the assessment. If you correctly answer 70% or more of the assessment items and complete the evaluation, you may claim credit. You must pass the assessment to claim credit; therefore, if you do not pass, you cannot claim any credit.
