Description
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause of malignancies of the lower anogenital tract and oropharynx. Keep up with current scientific knowledge as this activity reviews testing for high-risk HPV infections, screening for cervical cancer using the pap test, and key points of cytohistologic correlations in cervical pathology. In addition, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology 2019 guidelines and screenings for cervical cancer, and the current recommendations for anal and oropharyngeal cancer screening will be discussed. Finally, approved HPV vaccines in addition to facts and myths about the vaccine will be discussed.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Describe the laboratory tests available for HPV infection.
- Identify the different screening guidelines for HPV and associated precancerous and cancerous lesions.
- Review various HPV vaccines available.
